      <link>https://www.peren-revues.fr/annales-sgn/542</link>
In the marine environment, all sediments containing organic matter do not become hydrocarbon source rocks, but all source rocks are (very) rich in marine-derived, phytoplanktonic organic matter. It is therefore important to understand the factors favoring the accumulation and preservation of organic matter from phytoplankton biomass, as this is the starting point for the whole chain of reactions that may eventually end with the formation of an oil system... </description>
