During the last years, about thirty litho-ecologic marker beds of wide geographic extension were described in the Cenomanian and the Turonian of the Anglo-Paris basin. Some are very useful for accurate intra- and interbasinal correlations. To-day, the vertical distribution of the most representative species of planktonic and benthic foraminifers is revised and calibrated in comparison with these marker-beds, owing to the sampling of two major sections in the Boulonnais, viz. the Cap Blanc-Nez cliffs and the Caffiers railway cutting.
