The role and arthurianization of the fairy Proserpina in Artus de Bretagne has been studied by Christine Ferlampin-Acher. This article aims to highlight the importance given to Proserpina by the authors of the 15th century Continuations d’Artus de Bretagne. Although Proserpina remains an Arthurian fairy, she exhibits more pronounced antique characteristics than in the 14th-century novel. As a woman, an eastern and arthurian fairy, and an ancient goddess, Proserpine’s protean otherness allows her to embody feminine power and endows the novel with a marvellous polyphony.

L’Aventurière apprivoisée : Néronès l’audacieuse du Perceforest à Clyomon and Clamydes

My paper examines the evolution of Néronès, a female protagonist of the Perceforest, an Arthurian romance written at the Valois court of Burgundy. Her adventures were adapted on stage by the author of Clyomon and Clamydes (ca. 1570-1580) who picked and rewrote some episodes of the story while omitting others, considered unsuitable for a theatrical production. Certain scenes were revised in order to make them as impactful as possible in terms of dramaturgy, but also to meet the requirements of the genre and to follow the rules of decorum.
