L’étude stylistique de ce processus de réécriture fait apparaître un dispositif de création dans la mise à distance, présent au niveau macrostructural aussi bien qu’au niveau microstructural. L’impossibilité de savoir et de dire, thématiques fondamentales de l’écriture durassienne, vont croissant au fil de la réécriture (d’œuvre en œuvre) et sont corrélatives d’une désincarnation et d’une dénonciation de l’illusion de réalité. Du sein même de cette mise à distance émerge cependant une vision étendue, universelle, atemporelle et associée à un nouveau langage. This article offers an analysis of Marguerite Duras’s rewriting of the novel Le Vice-consul (1966), which she developed into a “texte théâtre film”, a radio play, two songs and two films. A stylistic study of this rewriting process reveals a mechanism of creation through distancing, present at both macrostructural and microstructural level. The impossibility of knowing and speaking, fundamental themes in Duras’s writing, increase throughout the rewriting process (from work to work) and are linked to a disembodiment and unmasking of the illusion of reality. L’intelligence des cinéastes, surtout leur manière de rendre au texte, pièce homonyme de Corneille, sa pureté d’origine l’ont profondément séduite. En effet, le traitement radical que Straub et Huillet imposèrent à la fois au texte et au film a quelque chose de subversif, probable répercussion de Mai 68, montrant la possibilité d’explorer autrement le cinéma sans renoncer au métier d’écrivain. Contrairement à Jean-Luc Godard, qui se méfiait de l’hégémonie du texte dans le film, Duras, à l’instar de Straub et Huillet, souligne la métamorphose du texte en voix, résultat d’un déplacement au sein de l’espace cinématographique, que tous ces cinéastes élaborent chacun à sa manière. When Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet's film Othon was released in 1970, Duras reacted immediately in her article entitled « ‘Othon’, de Jean-Marie Straub ». The filmmakers' intelligence and, above all, their way of restoring Corneille's homonymous play to its original purity, won her over. In fact, the radical treatment that Straub and Huillet imposed on both text and film was somewhat subversive, probably a repercussion of May 68, showing her the possibility of exploring cinema in a different way without abandoning the writer's uses.
