      <title>Traduire Timberlake Wertenbaker : d’Our Country’s Good à Pour le bien de la nation</title>
      <link>http://www.peren-revues.fr/coupdetheatre/413</link>
<description>Ce mémoire de recherche porte sur la pièce Our Country’s Good, de Timberlake Wertenbaker. This research was an attempt at analysing and producing a new French translation of Timberlake Wertenbaker’s beloved play Our Country’s Good. Set in late 18th century Australia, the play explores various themes, such as intertextuality, racism, and the relationship between physical and verbal oppression. Wertenbaker’s play was both inspired and created by and for the prison stage, and at its core lies a juxtaposition of voices and time frames, which makes the production of a French translation incredibly complex, between providing as faithful a translation as possible and producing a version of the text that would be pertinent and accessible for the stage, both in and out of prison. Elaborating this new translation and comparing it with Isabelle Famchon’s Dans l’intérêt du pays, the only pre-existing French translation, was also a way of respecting and engaging with the intertextual nature of the original play, for all translations are rewritings. </description>
