<title>Translating the Dead: Solidarity and the Afterlife. An interview with David Johnston</title>
      <link>http://www.peren-revues.fr/coupdetheatre/760</link>
<description>David Johnston is one of the best-known contemporary theatre translators of Spanish Golden Age plays into English, whose translations have been regularly performed across the Anglophone world, including by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Washington Shakespeare Company. Interviewed at length by Yangyang Long, a postdoctoral researcher in the Centre for Translation and Interpreting at Queen’s University, Belfast, he lays out his views on translation from a theorist-practitioner point of view, voices his concerns about what translation can do in the theatre today, and argues how much it constitutes a special form of writing. </description>
