      <link>https://www.peren-revues.fr/demeter/1739</link>
By putting photography to the test of eye-tracking measurements, the aim is as much to examine the analytical potential of the eye-tracking process as to understand how some photographic artworks can thwart the presuppositions of theories of vision. The reflection begins with a re-reading of Roland Barthes’s La Chambre claire, and more specifically with the notion of punctum, which finds both its coherence and its limits in the eye-tracking tests dedicated to the images in the book. The demonstration is then based on a number of measures (salience maps and eye movements) relating to the photographs of Jeff Wall and John Hilliard, two artists whose work demonstrates an acute knowledge of our attentional mechanisms.  </description>
