      <link>https://www.peren-revues.fr/demeter/2402</link>
Emerging in the 1990s, French conceptual dance maintains a close dialogue with the legacy of the North American avant-garde of the 1950s-1970s, particularly that of performance art and postmodern dance. Based on the phenomena of choreographic revival and quotation, this contribution examines how pioneering artists such as Jérôme Bel and Alain Buffard have challenged the disciplinary frameworks of dance and developed a critical relationship with the choreographic medium, focusing on the concept and the creative process. The analysis of Alain Buffard’s Dispositifs 3.1 (2001) highlights the pivotal role of the choreographer in redefining the issues of representation and spectacularity at the intersection of distinct conceptual generations. Finally, a later generation, embodied in particular by Fanny de Chaillé and Mette Ingvartsen, continues this legacy by reinvesting in an assumed theatricality, while maintaining an active reflection on memory, transmission, and the historicity of gestures, thus contributing to the development of diverse conceptual choreographic practices based on shared genealogies. </description>
