<title>Des traces aux signes du temps.
      <link>https://www.peren-revues.fr/mosaique/2532</link>
Ernst Bloch’s philosophy of hope rehabilitates the notion of utopia by unfolding as a hermeneutics of the possible, that is, as a method of interpreting the signs of the possible within reality. To show this, the article first locates Bloch’s enterprise in the light of the objections usually raised against utopia and identifies the function of this hermeneutic method within Bloch’s dialectical topography of utopia: it must ensure the passage from a heterotopic public space to utopia. The article goes on to show how this hermeneutics, founded on an ontology of the possible, fosters a dialectical inheritance of the political signals of the present and the cultural works of the past: the point is not to conceive some desirable future ex nihilo, but to inherit its very possibilities. Finally, the article shows how this recourse to hermeneutics presupposes an underlying theory of signification, the main lines of which are sketched. </description>
