      <link>https://www.peren-revues.fr/mosaique/1207</link>
      <link>https://www.peren-revues.fr/mosaique/397</link>
This article studies the evolution of the iconography of the allegory of astronomy and the muse Urania on French clocks from the 18th century to the First Empire. The representations of this topic used by artists and craftsmen had to respect a codified iconography, but this did not prevent particular adaptations according to the tastes and fashions of the period. Its use over such a long period of time is the result of the interest that science aroused in an ever-widening public and the ingenuity of artists in creating original models. It is interesting to understand how artists chose to illustrate this theme according to their own motivations or those of their clients, but always with the intention of satisfying a clientele eager for novelty. </description>
