      <link>https://www.peren-revues.fr/mosaique/419</link>
In order to point out the uselessness of Plato’s intelligible Forms to explain physical phenomena, Aristotle reduces their role as 'models' of sensible objects to 'empty words' and 'poetic metaphors'. This paper aims to show that, inconsistent as it may be within the framework of Aristotelian physics, the Platonic conceptualisation of Forms as causes of the becoming is coherent and reconfigures the explanation of physical and natural phenomena. Plato develops a type of causality that can be called 'paradigmatic' by challenging the boundary between axiological, moral and political issues on the one hand and physical science on the other. The role of physics is to produce the condition of intelligibility of our capacity to act on the sensible, by means of a likely myth and images, and reveals the Platonic refusal to oppose, as Aristotle does, practical, productive knowledge on the one hand and theoretical knowledge on the other hand. </description>
