The essay explores how Ettore Majorana’s disappearance serves as a productive blind spot for destituent thought. Treating absence as an irreducible event, the analysis shows that every discursive attempt to fill the void fails. Yet it is precisely this failure that opens space for a politics of subtraction, in which power is suspended, and the subject’s voice is redefined within the possibility of not speaking.

The paper aims to investigate the presence of Dreyer’s La passion de Jeanne d’Arc (1927) in Jean-Luc Godard’s Vivre sa vie (1962) and Notre musique (2004). Through an analysis of the shot and reverse shot technique employed by Godard in the sequences in which Nana and Olga converse with Dreyer’s film, the contribution attempts to show how the Godard work can open a destitute image of woman, the embodiment of an escape from any order of discourse.

Et quasi cursores uitai lampada tradunt

Calvinian writing resembles that of Lucretius in that it is a cosmic writing, which intends not only to describe the universe but also to take up certain founding principles in its very form. A cosmogonic writing, “metaphor for the particulate substance of the world” (Six Memos for the Next Millennium), that conceives of the void as the place where everything can happen and where things like letters can unfold, combine, build and deconstruct.

La place du vide

This article essentially consists in deploying the stakes of the following idea of Lucretius: the void is an intangible and vacant place. By closely following these issues, we realize that they are inseparable from the place of emptiness for Nature and that the meet the issues of the relationship between spirit and matter (and the body). Furthermore, they open up avenues that will be taken by philosophies which are more contemporary to us (those of Badiou and Deleuze). Lucretius, by supporting a materialism including the intangible void has contributed more to make possible a materialism of the intangible Time and the event. Since the spirit arises from a series of events, shouldn't it be turned back to what it comes from and on the Place of the void in which we stand (body-and-soul)? It is this twist that this article also attempts to make.
