Kleist writes Kohlhaas during the Napoleonic wars (1810), to propose, through the parable of a 16th century rebel, a new alliance between the people and a power capable of defending it. The revolutionary strength of Kohlhaas's has fascinated our modernity. Through the adaptations of V. Schlöndorff (1969), M. Baliani and A. des Paillières (2013), Kohlhaas continued to question relationship between the man of the people and the power at critical moments in the recent European history.
